ABOUT ME

Denise Piana
Founder and Teacher
I’m Denise Piana, an English teacher from Brazil with a lifelong passion for language and learning. I’ve been teaching English since 1986, and over the years, I’ve experienced several enriching cycles in my career.
My journey began at a language school in my hometown of Vitória. A few years later, I co-founded a private ESL school with two partners. After five successful years, I sold my share and moved to Rio de Janeiro, where I specialized in Business English and taught professionals in multinational companies. It was during this time that I began developing my own teaching methodology—one focused on helping Brazilians overcome their specific challenges in becoming fluent in English.
In 2008, I moved to Santo André, São Paulo, and opened Edventure, my own English Training Center. When the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, I transitioned to online teaching and have since worked with students from all over the world from my current base in São Paulo.
My love for English started long before my professional career. In 1986, I was an AFS exchange student and graduated from Sandstone High School in Minnesota. I was hosted by the Lundorff family—Bob, Elsie, and Greta—who have been my American family ever since. That unforgettable experience inspired my lifelong dedication to teaching and cultural exchange.
Though I initially studied journalism, my calling to teach English changed my path. Today, I work primarily with one-on-one students, offering personalized lesson plans that meet each individual’s goals, learning style, and fluency challenges.
Now that my children are grown, I’ve found the time to invest even more deeply in my professional dreams. One of those dreams has become a reality: offering immersive English learning programs that combine language with real-life experiences and adventure.
Let’s make learning an adventure.
